MALDON & TIPTREE have lost a second manager to the League this season after David Wright departed for Colchester United.

Wright had been with the Ryman North side since the start of the campaign after he replaced Kevin Watson who had made a similar move by joining Stevenage as assistant to Teddy .

The 35-year-old led the Jammers to ten wins and five draws in their 25 league games so far and they sit comfortably in mid-table.

Wright was named as newly appointed Kevin Keen's assistant at League One side Colchester United on Monday.

His assistant at Maldon, Liam Bailey, will be in charge of the Jammers for their Boxing Day game against .

Wright said: “This has happened a bit sooner than I thought it would but I am very excited to be given the opportunity.

“I retired a year ago and then was working full-time at Ipswich before coming here in the summer and working with the U21s.

“The Maldon job has taught me a hell of a lot in terms of speaking to players and bringing them in, talking to agents and worrying about the money, the kit, everything!

“It's been fantastic for me and it's really opened my eyes to how much work is done off the pitch. The work on the pitch is just a fraction of that.”

I would like to wish David the best for the future in his new role. Maldon &Tiptree FC is a great club to learn about grass routes football. The club and team are the main thing that matter. We will go on.
