Nicky Forster resigns as manager of Staines Town

NICKY FORSTER has resigned as Staines Town manager exactly a year after joining the club following six defeats in seven games.

The former and Brentford boss joined the Swans last January, replacing Marcus Gayle, but couldn't stop the club from suffering relegation to the Ryman Premier.

He stayed with the club and led them to the first round where they were beaten 6-1 by League Two side .

Since that defeat, the Swans have suffered a big dip in form and Wednesday night's 3-0 loss at – their sixth in seven games – was the final straw.

The Swans are now 17th in the Ryman Premier, nine points clear of the bottom three and 13 points adrift of the play-off places.

A club statement read: “It is with great regret that Nick Forster has decided that it is in the best interests of Staines Town Club for him to leave the club with immediate effect.

“The club would like to thank him for his service and professionalism throughout and wish him all the very best for the future. He will always be welcome with open arms at Staines Town Football Club.”
