BOROUGH boss Alan Dowson has backed his side to overcome their mini blip – and took responsibility for the defeat at Bognor Regis on Saturday.

The Beavers lost 1-0 at the Rocks following a 2-2 home draw with fellow high-flyers . Dowson's men did, however, beat struggling 3-1 on Tuesday night to move within a point of leaders .

The former boss was frank in his comments about last Saturday's defeat in Sussex and promised his side's focus wouldn't wane for the rest of the season.

Dowson, pictured above with Martin Tyler, said: “I made some mistakes on Saturday, Bognor were better prepared than we were and that is totally down to me – and that's unacceptable.

“We should have been training instead of having massages in the build up to the game but in you need to learn from the errors you make and I promise we all will. We'll be better off for it.

“We're in a difficult time, but the key thing is that we don't panic. We're not tearing our hair out, we've dropped a few points but we're enjoying a fantastic season. We've got to get ourselves back on track and we all, myself included, have got to get standards back up.

“There's no doubts about the players. They are together and they are ready to put the last few weeks to bed. Now it's about putting words in practice and getting a win on the board.”
