FREE-SCORING Leiston won't abandon their attacking principles as they seek promotion from the Ryman Premier this term.
The Blues were blanked at Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday night but they have still scored 22 times in their previous six outings.
Last Tuesday night's 4-0 win over Canvey Island meant the Blues have now scored more league goals this season, 75, in 27 games as they did throughout the whole of the last campaign.
The East Suffolk side's top scorer Matty Blake has taken his tally to 32 for the season and new strike partner Niko Muir-Merchant – a recent signing fron Hendon – has netted four times in six games.
“I think we've scored 114 goals in all competitions, although we have conceded a few,” estimated Blues boss Glenn Driver, who took over the managerial hotseat from Richard Wilkins in the summer.
“We've got to get that right, but to better last year's record with 19 games to go is fantastic.
“We play an attractive brand of football where we get at teams and we do that whether we play at home or away. We won't change the football we play, we'll keep getting it down and keep attacking teams.”
The Blues are now back firmly in the play-off places after an end-of-year blip, and Driver is backing the partnership of Blake and Muir-Merchant can help keep them there.
“The partnership is excellent,” beamed Driver. “They complement each other and are looking really good.”
