RICHARD LAWSON will step down as chairman of Ryman League club Ramsgate at the end of the month, bringing to an end his 25-year tenure.
Speaking about his decision, he told the club's website: “I've been doing the job for 25 years now and I've been finding it increasingly difficult to devote the time I need to the club, not only on a daily basis but match days as well.
“When I came to the club we were languishing at the bottom of the Kent League, now 25 years later I am handing over a healthy vibrant club with some really good facilities and some great people on board.
“I have met and worked with an enormous amount of people over that time and I would like to thank each and every one of them for their support. It has been an absolute honour to represent this Town through football for so long.”
Taking over from Lawson is the club's current vice chairman, Paul Jefcoate. Jefcoate will handle all football matters, while other day-to-day duties will be allocated to other members of the board.
