SOUTHPORT manager John Coleman says his side's battle to avoid relegation isn't over yet despite victory in the “biggest game of our lives” – a 2-0 home win over Tamworth on Saturday.
The Sandgrounders are now four points above the drop-zone but Coleman is warning his players not to be complacent as the season nears its climax.
The Easter weekend could be key to them retaining their Skrill Premier status and it starts with a tough trip to play-off hopefuls Gateshead on Good Friday before they host fellow top-five chasing FC Halifax on Monday.
Coleman told The NLP: “We're happy with the win over Tamworth but we've still got to be careful and make sure we complete the job.
“People thought we were safe after we beat Forest Green but then we only managed to get one point from the next available nine. We can't afford to do that again as other teams will take advantage.
“In my eyes we've still got to take at least four points. We've told the players not to rely on other results – we've got to do it in our own way.”
The result at the Merseyrail Community Stadium confirmed Tamworth's inevitable relegation to the Skrill North, which is set to force them to return to part-time football.
