Jamie Day joins Forest Green Rovers as assistant

FORMER and boss Jamie Day has been named Forest Green Rovers' new assistant manager.

Day, 35, made his managerial name at Welling, leading the club to Conference South promotion while also keeping them in 's top flight on a modest budget.

He took over as manager of big-spending Ebbsfleet in December but was sacked last month after losing nine of his 20 league games in charge.

He will be reunited with his former Welling boss Ady Pennock at The New Lawn and replaces Dave Kevan, who joined in March, as assistant.

“I've played under Ady as a player and hopefully now I'll have a really good spell as a coach working alongside him,” Day said.

“It's something I've always wanted to do and I'm really looking forward to it. I've got the experience of managing to help Ady.

“I've worked as a coach before at youth level, and as a number two, so it gives me another side of the game at a higher level to work with.”
