have secured the permanent return of midfielder Jim Stevenson from Luton Town.

The 23-year-old made 14 appearances and scored three goals during a loan spell with the Shots between January and April.

Now Stevenson will be back at the Recreation Ground on a one-year deal once his Luton contract expires on August 1. The Hatters signed him back in the summer of 2013 after making his name at .

“Jim is another good signing for us,” said Shots manager Barry Smith. “He's got a desire to get back to League level, the same as the club, and for someone of such a young age, with his attitude and commitment, he can be a leader on the park. His attributes make him just the sort of player that we are looking for.”

Stevenson added: “I had a few options but I love being here. It's a good club and I've been made to feel very welcome by the management, staff and supporters. I have nothing but positive views of the club.

“I like to feel settled and that's when I play my best football, and hopefully I can continue to progress in my performances this season.

“We had a good group of players all working together and that's what we've got to try to get this season, with young hungry players who all want to improve.

“I'd like to think that I can be a key part of that and help to build something here. We can aim high this season, and I want to get back into the Football League.

“Barry has told me what he wants from me and it's everything that I want to be doing as a footballer – playing through midfield and being an attacking threat.

“I'd love to be able to do that week in, week out, and score loads of goals from midfield. I'm really excited for that and optimistic about what we can achieve.”
