Chris Todd handed Eastleigh manager’s job

have ended their hunt for a new manager – appointing caretaker boss Chris Todd.

The 34-year-old veteran defender was put in temporary charge following Richard Hill's resignation last month.

He led the club to three wins from his four games at the helm, including a 3-2 success against league leaders Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night. Todd also oversaw victories against fellow promotion hopefuls Tranmere Rovers and .

The club's former assistant manager has now been given the reins after becoming the “natural choice”.

His first game in charge as permanent boss will be Saturday's trip to Cheltenham with the Spitfires two points off the play-off places.

A club statement read: “Having been at the club for a few years now Chris understands the ethos and outlook of the club and we are extremely excited at the prospect of him leading us through the next stage of our development.

“Whilst Chris is new to management he has a wealth of experience at this level both as a player along with his recent role as assistant.

“He is very well thought in the game of and has very good footballing connections which the club should benefit from.

“We feel that the level of enthusiasm, desire, commitment and focus that Chris demonstrated in his interview along with his other attributes made him the natural choice.”
