Barnsley swoop for two more Non-League starlets

LEAGUE ONE side Barnsley have dipped into again to sign FC striker Shaun Tuton and AFC 's Josh Kay.

Tuton, 24, has scored 11 times in the this season and has helped the Shaymen climb up the table since the appointment of new boss Jim Harvey.

The striker will join former Halifax player Marc Roberts at the Tykes after the defender joined the club in the summer. Barnsley also recently signed Weston-super-Mare forward Bradley Ash.

Tuton, who has moved for an undislosed fee and signed a two-and-a-half year deal, said: “I've been stepping up over the past couple years from to the Conference, within five months to get a move to a big, League One Club is great.

“When I first heard, I was sat waiting and heard a few rumours, when my agent said it was finalised I couldn't wait to get over and sign.”

The Tykes have also swooped for 's 19-year-old midfielder Kay, who has signed an 18-month contract at Oakwell.

Kay had spent the past two seasons at North West Counties side  and joined Fylde in the summer, making his debut in the victory over in November.

Coasters boss Dave Challinor said: “We are delighted that Josh has been offered a pro deal with Barnsley. He came in six months ago and has really kicked on in that time. Hopefully he will be the first in a long line to come through our Academy programme.”

Kay added: “I'm delighted to join such a big club like Barnsley and can't wait to get going. I know Barnsley give opportunities to younger players and I'll aim to grab my chance when it comes along.

“I'd like to thank everyone connected with AFC Fylde for helping me to where I am today. This is a very exciting new chapter in my career and I'm determined to work really hard to make it a success.”
