ALEX WALL has returned to Bromley after National League rivals Sutton United opted not to offer the striker a contract.
The 25-year-old former Maidenhead, Luton and Dartford forward spent last season with Bromley and joined Sutton for pre-season.
U's boss Paul Doswell says there was an agreement in place that he would make a decision on whether to sign Wall permanently by the end of July.
Wall's injury record has restricted the amount of appearances he has made in recent seasons and Doswell thinks a contract is too much of a risk.
It means the Sutton boss will now turn his attentions elsewhere as he looks to bolster his attacking options but says there isn't a signing lined up just yet.
Doswell told the Kingston Guardian: “Alex has gone back to Bromley. We had to make a decision by the end of July and we had to commit to a contract and we felt it was too big a risk with his injury.
“At the moment I have not got a replacement in mind necessarily – which is why Craig Dundas got 45 minutes against Kingstonian.
“We have been chasing one player, whether we'll get him we don't know. I spoke to him on Tuesday, and he has a double the money offer from someone else but it is a long way from where he lives – so I am waiting on that.”
