BOREHAM WOOD boss Luke Garrard has finally completed the signing of striker Morgan Ferrier, challenging the youngster to “get his head down”.

The 21-year-old has had a nomadic career so far but has good pedigree having spent time with Arsenal, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Watford.

Following his release from Palace at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, the forward dropped into with Bishop's Stortford and then in South.

Ferrier was invited to pre-season by Garrard and looked set to sign before impressing against Peterborough United in a friendly, prompting the League One club to offer him a trial.

Wood chairman Danny Hunter slammed Posh boss Grant McCann, claiming he “took the family silver” after the game at Meadow Park.

But following the trial with Peterborough, and time spent at Swindon and Stevenage, Ferrier has put pen to paper with the Wood for the upcoming season.

Garrard told the club's website: “Morgan has the ability but it's nowhere near being realised yet. He needs to get his head down and understand the importance of being a team player and being consistent both on the training pitch and then taking that knowledge and endeavour into games.

“We'll help him all we can but it's ultimately the player's responsibility to be a good member of the group and to remain focused.

“The real benchmark for me will be if he ends the season still here at Boreham Wood and if his stats show everyone that he's now appeared in 40 plus games at National League level. If he has a goal ratio of one in three at just 22 years of age he'll get his move.

“That's the target I'll set him and if he gets that in his locker and we can improve both his hold up play and his awareness, then he'll get his move into the pro game and we would all have played our part.”
