Tranmere boss Gary Brabin left angered by ‘pantomime’ at York City

ANGRY Tranmere Rovers boss Gary Brabin slammed after their goalless draw last night, labelling the game a ‘pantomime'.

Rovers' winless run was extended to three after the stalemate at Bootham Crescent and some of York's actions clearly left a bad taste in Brabin's mouth.

He also criticised referee Andrew Miller for his decision to send off Tranmere midfielder Jeff Hughes for a tackle on striker Richard Brodie.

“I don't want to say the first thing that rolls off my tongue,” Brabin told the Liverpool Echo. “I'll leave that to the 300 Tranmere supporters who were here.

“I'd have to see it again, but from where we were, he hasn't gone anywhere near him.

“If you'd watched the game clearly, you could see what was going on. It was like a pantomime. But that's out of our control. All we can do it try and control what we're in control of, and that was our performance.

“We've upset everyone except for our players, our staff and our supporters. I think everyone apart from them is absolutely gutted that we got something out of the game.”

York boss Jackie McNamara, meanwhile, said: “People were saying it was a bad one (the sending off), that the lad was off the ground with studs showing but I'd have to see it again before I comment.

“I saw the other one when young Jake Wright had to go off on a stretcher. I thought maybe the challenge was accidental but it was still a foul and I was disappointed by the shouts from their (Tranmere's) bench.”
