LINCOLN CITY boss Danny Cowley has confirmed the club enquired about the possibility of signing Dover striker Ricky Miller but says he doesn't expect his interest to go any further.

Miller has scored six times already this season for Dover and has attracted the interest of Cowley, who would like to replace striker Jonny Margetts following his deadline day move to .

Cowley has made it clear that he rates the former and Luton Town striker but Dover are adamant they don't want to part with their prized asset.

The 27-year-old's contract at Crabble is up at the end of the season but Cowley admitted he doesn't see Miller becoming a Lincoln player any time soon.

“We made an inquiry to the Dover chairman with regards to Ricky Miller,” the ex- and Braintree boss said during his press conference ahead of Saturday's game against .

“We had a clear conversation with him, we haven't done anything wrong. Dover rate him very highly and I'm not surprised about that because he is an excellent player.

“That's where it ends as far as I am concerned, he's a Dover player and Dover will value him as they see fit. For us, Ricky is one we would like, but there are other good players in this league we would like.

“We are always respectful that players are part of other clubs and other clubs have to do what is best for them.”

Dover boss Chris Kinnear, meanwhile, is clearly not happy with interest in his star striker, telling BBC Radio Kent: “They should mind their own business really. They are playing silly so and so's, but I have no control over what people say, it's up to them.”
