Retired Lee Fowler’s got the key to more success!

fans are used to Lee Fowler unlocking opposition defences – but until he gets the management opportunity he craves, the midfielder will be cutting their keys instead.

The 33-year-old has retired from and after sitting his badges will take some time out of the game.

Having been offered an exciting position at repair and engravement specialists, Timpson, he'll be getting his hands dirty learning a trade – but he'll be on the front line at the Wrexham branch up the road from where he used to play!

But Fowler, the former Nuneaton, Forest Green, Kidderminster and Crawley man who calls time on his career whilst playing for AFC Telford, says football hasn't seen the last of him yet.

He told The : “Sometimes you just know when the time is right. My heart is now set on the next step on the football ladder – I know I will have to be patient, but ask any manager who I have played under and they will tell you it's the logical path for me. I want to experience the other side of football.

“I've quit three times before, but this time it's me done. It's the perfect time to look at other avenues within the game.”

But with a young family to support, he recognises he has a duty to make ends meet.

“A good friend of mine has offered me the chance to learn some skills and get qualified at Timpson,” he added. “There's so much I can do and the money will be decent, I started on Monday morning.

“The funny thing is that it's in Wrexham – not far from the Racecourse! I'm going to get plenty of stick from the club's fans no doubt when they see me there.

“I'm all for them coming in. The more customers I attract, the better it is! Bring it on.”
