UNDER pressure boss Jackie McNamara has been given one game to save his job after Tuesday night's thrashing at the hands of .

The Minstermen took the lead at Nethermoor but went on to lose 6-1 to the previously winless Lions following a number of floodlight failures.

The Scottish boss met chairman Jason McGill on Wednesday and a statement was released by the club announcing that McNamara would quit if the club didn't gain a “positive result” at fellow strugglers Braintree on Saturday.

The statement read: “Following a meeting with the chairman this morning, and in light of the disappointing performance and result last night, York City manager Jackie McNamara has considered his position going forward.

“It has been decided that, if the team fails to gain a positive result at on Saturday, the York City manager will tender his resignation.

“The manager will be looking for a passionate and committed reaction from the players after the capitulation at Nethermoor Park on Tuesday evening.”
