BOREHAM WOOD have secured the services of former Blackburn Rovers, QPR and MK Dons striker Tom Hitchcock while midfielder Conor Clifford has moved back to his native Ireland.
Hitchcock is still only 24 but has a large amount of experience in the Football League, playing in the Championship, League One and League Two.
After starting out at Blackburn, Hitchcock has spent time with eight different clubs including Bristol Rovers, Crewe Alexandra, Rotherham United, Fleetwood Town and Stevenage.
The forward, son of former Chelsea keeper Kevin Hitchcock, left MK Dons in the summer after making 14 appearances in two years and was reportedly training with Port Vale earlier this month.
However, he will be hoping to get his career back on track and find a home with Boreham Wood after turning out for a number of different clubs in his short career so far.
Wood boss Luke Garrard told the club's website: “Myself and the chairman (Danny Hunter) have as usual had to be patient, as we've been trying to tie this one up on more than one occasion. This time, though, the situation suited all parties and I can't wait to get started with the player.
“Tom knows he needs come in, work hard and do well to get his career kick started again. Myself, the chairman and my coaches believe he can do that with us and he looks fit and raring to go based on training today and as such he'll go straight into the match day squad this Saturday.”
There was also bad news for the Wood, however, after the club confirmed they had sold midfield dynamo Clifford to Irish champions Dundalk.
The Lilywhites, who starred in this season's Europa League, have welcomed Clifford after the Wood man decided to move back to his native Ireland.
Chairman Hunter said: “In truth we didn't want Conor to leave us. That said I spoke with him at length and he just felt he'd been away from his native Dublin for over ten years now and it was time for him to return home.
“He's also joining the Irish champions Dundalk, which is barely an hour away from his front door and with their pre-season starting as early as this week he can get up to speed with his new team-mates and settle in.
“He can, I believe, as Dundalk are the reigning Irish Champions, look forward to a Champions League qualifier sometime in July.”
