The 23-year-old, son of former boss Lee, joined Halifax last summer from Alty and he helped the Shaymen win promotion to the .

The attacking midfielder scored nine times for Billy Heath's men last season as they finished third in the before beating Salford City and in the play-offs.

Sinnott's appearances in the Shaymen's engine room attracted interest from higher placed clubs and the former Huddersfield trainee has signed a two-year deal with Chesterfield.

The Spireites will be looking to bounce straight back up to League One following relegation last term and Sinnott is their second addition this summer after they previously signed striker Gozie Ugwu.

Sinnott told Chesterfield's website: “We had a great season last year both as a team and for me personally in getting promoted and that's what I've come here to do, I want to push on and get promoted out of this league as well,”

“You hear rumours, my family and my friends have been texting me telling me that I'm going to sign for Chesterfield, and asking me ‘do I know anything?' – I had to tell them that they knew as much as me!

“But to finally get it sorted and to be stood in the ground now, it's a great platform for us to build on, so hopefully we can have a good season.”
