SALISBURY CITY have decided to appoint their new manager from within, handing Mikey Harris the reins on a permanent basis.
Harris has been in caretaker charge of the newly-promoted Conference Premier club since Darrell Clarke left to become assistant boss of Bristol Rovers earlier this summer.
Prior to taking on the caretaker role he spent three seasons working as Clarke's assistant, overseeing promotions in 2010/11 and 2012/13, and was part of Tommy Widdrington's coaching staff for three years before that.
At just 28 years of age, Harris becomes the youngest manager of a full-time club in the country, and fought off competition from over 50 applicants to land the much sought after role.
Speaking after his appointment, Harris said: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to manage the club that I love.
“I have spent the best part of a decade at the Ray Mac in various roles and to get the top job is a dream come true.
“I know that a huge number of great football people applied and the fact the board has selected me to take the club forward makes it even more special.
“The hard work starts now and I can assure everyone associated with Salisbury City FC that I will be giving 100 per cent to make sure that the 2013/2014 is another successful one for the club.”
