A-Listers star as Wrexham take centre stage in new documentary

and their new Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will take centre stage in a two-season access-all-areas documentary about the club.

‘Welcome to Wrexham' has been commissioned by American broadcaster FX TV and was revealed by the actors, famous for their roles in Deadpool and Always Sunny In Philadelphia, in a parody video.

The pair were mocked by a Welsh translator – US-based journalist Maxine Hughes who is originally from Conwy, North Wales – about their purchase of the club they completed in February.

“There is no hope these two can manage a club. And the one with the toupee thinks Wales is in Scotland,” Hughes said in Welsh. “‘The tall, skinny one makes movies and the muscular one sells cream cheese from Philadelphia, or something.”

The documentary series will focus on the stars' takeover of the club and the Dragons' progress in the .

Meanwhile, Wrexham have revealed their ambitious plan to redevelop the Racecourse Ground.

The first phase is currently underway with new LED boards, sourced from , installed around the pitch.

The next stages will build from an initial audit and review project by architects AFL, who will identify opportunities to improve spectator experience throughout the concourses and maximise the value of recent changes at the club.

Part of these plans involve the redevelopment of the Kop Stand, once the largest all-standing terrace in the Football League at 5,000 capacity, but no longer in use.

Executive director Humphrey Ker said: “It is a hugely positive step forward as AFL have a track record of blending the heritage of famous stadiums with an upgraded fan experience.”
