Basford United boss Martin Carruthers aiming for fourth straight win

BASFORD UNITED are hoping to extend their winning run to four games when they host Chasetown on Saturday.

Last season’s Midland League Premier champions lost two of their first three league games in the Evo-Stik NPL Division One South but have since hit form.

Two wins over Loughborough Dyanmo – one coming in the FA Cup – and a 3-0 victory over Rugby Town on Bank Holiday Monday have pushed the Nottingham-based club up the table.

And boss Martin Carruthers is pleased with how his side have acclimatised to the increased quality in opposition since their promotion.

“I’m pleased with the way we have adapted to the demands of a very tough league,” he said.

“It’s early days yet, but if we maintain the level of performance we have shown in the last couple of games then we won’t go far wrong.”

Meanwhile, Darryl Thomas has left Basford to return to Loughborough Dynamo while Jake Wholley has departed for Carlton Town.
