Grantham Town chief executive Keith Horton steps down

chief executive Keith Horton has stepped down, saying the club's board of directors don't “share my vision for the future”.

Horton says he has left “with great sadness” but added that the board's inability to come up with a strategic vision for the future left him with no choice.

In a statement, Horton added: “Over recent weeks it has been obvious to me that the board of directors do not share my vision for the future of the club and particularly the future for our conferencing centre The Gingerbread.

“However, the current board have never provided a strategic vision for the future of this club.

“I have been very clear from the start of my involvement, that restoring the credibility and profile of the club would take time after all the years of decline.

“We have I believe seen a fragile recovery of the club which has generated a small, albeit very important return to some commercial value of the club with in the Grantham business community.

“May I take this opportunity on behalf of my wife Sandra and myself to say thank you for the warm welcome shown to us by all Grantham supporters and especially members of the Supporters Club Committee.”
