Southern Central game bizarrely abandoned in final moments

and must wait to find out the result of their bizarre last minute abandonment on Tuesday night.

Kings took the lead in the 76th minute in the Southern Division One Central game but Diamonds seemingly sealed a point and kept up their unbeaten run with a Dan Quigley goal right at the death.

The equaliser sparked anger from the hosts who felt they should have been given the ball back by Rushden after one of their players went down injured.

The match restarted but there was to be another coming together in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Diamonds' Brad Harris was challenged and both sets of coaching staff and players once again got involved.

Referee Mr Morrison took his time before red carding Rushden substitute Elliott Lamb-Johnson for his involvement in the furore before the official decided to call the game off with just moments remaining.

Both clubs are awaiting a decision from the on whether the result will stand or if the game will have to be replayed.
