TONY JOYCE has stepped down as manager of Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central side Aylesbury United after six years at the helm.
Joyce, 44, resigned after Saturday's FA Trophy preliminary round defeat at home to Heybridge Swifts.
After three spells playing for the Ducks, he was appointed manager in October 2009 and led the club back into the Southern League.
However, after a slow start which sees United 18th in the league with just two league wins this season, Joyce has decided to walk away.
“After Saturday's game and speaking to directors I offered my resignation,” said Joyce.
“Speaking to the chairman on Sunday evening I would like to stand by that decision and with regret move on from my position as Aylesbury United first team manager.
“I have had six years in charge and we have had some great times including promotions and cup finals.
“This season unfortunately, with the move to Thame, things have not worked out as expected at this stage of the season.
“I have great admiration for the club and feel now for myself and the football club it is time for change.
“I would like to thank everyone involved with the club from the players, my backroom staff, club officials and supporters for the time and support we had. It is a fantastic football club and I have made great friends and had some fantastic times. Football is like everything else in this world and you have to keep moving on.
“I wish the club every success in the future and once again would like to thank the club for the last six years.”
