Petersfield Town part company with Gary Lines and scrap director of football role

SOUTHERN Central strugglers have parted company with Gary Lines and scrapped their director of role.

Lines had temporarily stepped up to become first team boss after John Robson's exit just a month after he returned to the club.

However, when Robson was reinstated as manager in late November, Lines returned to his previous role as director of football.

Lines has now departed the club with the Rams deciding that the director of football role “was not working”.

It's been a tough season for the club and relegation to Step 5 looks like it will be difficult to avoid with the Rams bottom of the Southern Central and 14 points adrift of safety.

Although Lines has left the club, Robson will remain as first team boss with Matt Collins serving as his assistant. Shane Brayson and Tim Famer will continue to look after the Rams' reserves.

A statement released by club chairman Graeme Moir said:?“I can confirm that Gary Lines has left the club in his capacity as director of football and as a committee member.

“The committee decided that the role of director of football was not working for the football management side of the club, and after Gary's departure we will not be seeking anyone else for the role.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Gary for all of his hard work both on and off the pitch while he has been with us this season.”
