KING'S LYNN TOWN have secured a coup by appointing Norwich City legend and former Aston Villa assistant manager Ian Culverhouse as their new boss.
The Evo-Stik League Southern club moved quickly to bring in Culverhouse following the exit of long-serving boss Gary Setchell on Tuesday.
A former defender, Culverhouse started his career with Tottenham before moving to Norwich where he became a fans' favourite.
He spent nine years at Carrow Road, making almost 300 appearances, before playing 100 games for Swindon Town.
After finishing his career at Brighton, Culverhouse moved into youth coaching with the Seagulls, Barnet, Leyton Orient and Wycombe Wanderers.
In 2008 he was announced as Paul Lambert's assistant manager at Colchester United and then followed Lambert a year later to Norwich, helping take the Canaries from League One to the Premier League.
A move to Aston Villa followed in 2012 but Culverhouse left Villa Park two years later before becoming assistant to John Still at Dagenham & Redbridge.
He has left the Daggers in the National League to take his first manager's job at King's Lynn and joins a club that are 13th in the Southern Premier and set for another mid-table finish.
A club statement read: “King's Lynn Town football club are pleased to announce Ian Culverhouse as the club's new, full-time, first team manager.
“Ian made almost 300 appearances for Norwich City over a nine year career and almost 100 appearances for Swindon Town.
“More recently Ian has been assistant manager at Colchester United, Norwich City and Aston Villa and this season has been carrying out the same role at Dagenham and Redbridge.”
