Chorley extended their winning run to five straight victories and ten games unbeaten, thanks to goals from Momodou Touray and Mark Ellis against South Shields.
Chances were few in the early stages, though, Andy Preece’s side looked more likely to find the opening goal; Adam Blakeman and Mark Ellis linking up nicely on a couple of occasions.
The Magpies hit the front first, Touray spotting Miles Boney off his line and brilliantly lobbing the shot-stopper from 25 yards.
