On a day in which ‘cautious optimism’ was reported to be the feeling around the future of the town’s steelworks, the same applies to Scunthorpe United’s National League North promotion hopes.
Goals in each half from Michael Kelly and Carlton Ubaezuonu ensured the Iron did their bit at home to Spennymoor Town.
But with title rivals Kidderminster Harriers and Brackley Town also victorious, the race to claim the sole automatic promotion place continues to look like it will go to the wire.
