ASHLEY NADESAN has left McDonald's and Horley Town behind after his 99 goals over the past two seasons saw him secure a move to League One side Fleetwood Town.
Nadesan, 21, had been working as a supervisor at the fast food chain while banging in the goals for Combined Counties League Premier side Horley.
The striker had trials with League One side Millwall and Premier League outfit Norwich last month but Fleetwood have won the race for his signature, securing him on a three-year deal.
The move means Nadesan will be closer to his mother who runs a bed and breakfast in nearby Blackpool and the Cod Army will be hoping his scoring form at Step 5 will translate into the Football League.
The youngster has been likened to Jamie Vardy – who helped Fleetwood win the Conference before moving on to Leicester City – but he says he won't be getting carried away.
“I first heard about the interest from the club a couple of months ago, and ever since then it's just spiralled really,” Nadesan said. “I had to accept the offer because Fleetwood are a quality team.
“The club have recently opened up a new training facility which is amazing, and I can't wait for the season to start so I can play football again.
“The past two seasons have been incredible for me. The manager at Horley played me where I wanted to and the team around me have all been quality.
“If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have scored 99 goals, and it was just a shame really that I didn't score my 100th but I'll save that for Fleetwood!
“A lot of people are calling me the new Jamie Vardy by comparing me to him, but I don't want that pressure because I'd rather be the first Ashley Nadesan.”
