Supporter Group Funds Youngest Hatter’s Wages

STOCKPORT COUNTY supporter group Help the Hatters are to pay the wages of the club's youngest player, Rhys Turner.

The 17-year-old striker joined the Hatters in early July having prospered for Myerscough College and England College teams last season.

He is seen as an extremely bright prospect by those at Edgeley Park and club CEO Ryan McKnight is grateful that Help the Hatters have funded his wages.

Rhys TurnerSpeaking to the club's website, McKnight said: “This really is an excellent partnership for the club. Help the Hatters just get on with supporting the club and I'm delighted we've been able to find a way of hopefully returning the favour at some point in the future.

“Of course the spirit of agreement is that any money received will then be reinvested back into the club in a way of their members' choosing.

“They have worked so hard all summer within the ground and now are funding what we hope to be a special player's wages – we're lucky to have them on board and as a club we are very appreciative indeed.”

Help the Hatters spokesman Mike Hopper added: “The Rhys Turner deal allows Ian Bogie the luxury of having a young talent in the team adding to the experienced players recruited within the playing budget.

“We at Help the Hatters wish Rhys Turner a successful career and hope that he can one day emulate the likes of Anthony . Best wishes Rhys Turner from Help the Hatters.”
