Chris Moyses to step down as Lincoln City manager

CHRIS MOYSES will stand down as Lincoln City boss at the end of the season but says his replacement will inherit a squad “ready to challenge next season”.

Moyses made the transition from the board of directors to manager in December 2014 with his only previous dugout experience coming at Lincoln Moorlands Railway and local Sunday League side Ivy Tavern.

The club finished 15th last term and were in the play-off race this season until their recent run of poor form which has seen them lose four of their last six games.

They are, however, still 12th and look set to improve on last season's finish but Moyses will be leaving Sincil Bank after the remaining four games have been played.

After working at Royal Mail, he made EM Contracting, the gas pipe laying specialists, a success and now says mixing his business with the Imps isn't feasible.

Moyses told the Imps' official website: “It is my intention to stand down at the end of the season.

“I made this decision last week and it's not one I've made lightly but managing a club as well as running my own business has led to me working over 80 hours a week and that is simply not sustainable.

“The club is in a good place and there has been a complete overhaul of the playing side. Like the foundations of a house, you can't see where the strength is and whoever takes the reins will inherit a strong, decent group of players ready to challenge next season.”
