We’re Still In Title Hunt, Says Chesham Boss Andy Leese

ANDY LEESE has insisted his side can still win the Calor League Premier title.

The Generals are eight points behind leaders after both sides won their midweek games against and respectively.

Despite this gap, Leese believes the title race is not over and has backed his team to push the leaders all the way.

The Chesham manager told : “It's going to be a monumental task but we are not giving up. It would be foolish to do that.

“We have to keep matching their results and hope they have a few slip ups but we have to keep our eye on the teams behind us at the same time.

“March is a critical month and we have to make sure we take care of our own business and keep winning games.”

The Buckinghamshire side travel to Hemel for what could be a title deciding game on what is scheduled to be Chesham's penultimate game of the season on April 21, and the visitors will hope to still be in with a shot of the title.

Leese's side have won their previous five games, finding the net on 20 times in the process, and the manager wants his side to keep their run going.

He added: “We had a similar thing last year where we won ten games in the last couple of months to get ourselves into the play-offs.

“We've been in the play-offs for the last two seasons and you need to make sure your players are in the right physical shape.

“We haven't got many midweek games and it can work in our favour. When you get to the big games, you don't want to stumble.”
