FORMER England striker and European Golden Boot winner Luther Blissett has been placed in temporary charge of Hellenic League Premier outfit Burnham.
Watford legend Blissett, 58, joined forces with the club to create a high-quality youth development programme and he will now take charge of Burnham's first team alongside Paul Toms following the departure of manager Dave Tuttle.
The Blues have suffered two relegations in a row and have started the new Hellenic Premier campaign with four straight defeats – conceding 18 goals.
Saturday's 4-1 loss at Lydney Town led to Burnham parting company with Tuttle and they have turned to Blissett and Toms as they look to get back on track.
Former AC Milan forward Blissett has previous managerial experience having been in charge of Chesham United from February 2006 until the end of the 2006-07 season.
Chairman Gary Reeves said: “We would like to thank Dave for all of his hard work during last season and also in the preparation of the current season and the first five games, we wish him every success in the future.
“Luther Blissett and Paul Toms will be in temporary charge of the first team and have the full support of the board, whilst the club look at recruiting someone to take on the management role and work within the new football development structure.
“Details of this role will be released in due course. The club's priority is to focus on ensuring a period of stability and we are fortunate that we are able to call on Luther as our football development manager to give us the time to recruit the right individual for the position.”
