AFC Telford appoint Gavin Cowan as their new manager

National League North club AFC Telford have confirmed the appointment as Gavin Cowan as their new manager.

Cowan was part of the coaching staff at The Bucks this season as the club finished in 14th position, a comfortable seven points above the relegation zone.

As a player Cowan also captained the Shropshire club over a two year period between 2008 and 2010.

A statement on AFC Telford’s official club website read, “Gavin lives in Telford, has excellent formal qualifications in football and other sports. Gavin is passionate about football and in particular passionate about AFC Telford United, knows the club inside out and is already well known to our supporters and the local community.

Gavin has a wide network of football contacts both locally and nationally and is widely respected in football circles. This appointment also gives good continuity to build on the much-improved results on the pitch in the latter part of the season just ended and Gavin has a well thought out plan on both retained and new players, his work on this starts immediately. “

The appointment comes just a week after Rob Edwards left the club.
