CHELTENHAM TOWN have increased their forward options with the addition of “number one target” Dan Holman on a free transfer from Colchester United.

Holman has spent this season on loan at and is the fifth highest scorer in the with 14 league goals for the Cards this term.

He has signed for Gary Johnson's Robins – who currently top the table – until the end of the season with a view to extend his contract in the summer.

Holman said: “The gaffer here showed an interest quite early on and he really knew how I played. Once I came here and saw the ambition – I think it's the best place for me to become a better player.

“The team have been flying at the top of the league and hopefully I'll be able to help out. As a striker you want to score as many as you can and the club wants to achieve something great.”

Boss Johnson added: “The signing makes a big statement. We've kept an eye on him for a while now and it was important we had a list of targets.

“He was our number one target. We knew there would be interest in him and we had to get the timing right but as soon as I met him, I knew he was right for us.

“Players that get into goalscoring positions as much as he does and players who can score different types of goals like him are key. The main thing is he's got is that desire to score goals.”
