Wrexham boss Dean Keates hopeful of building ‘exciting’ squad for next season

boss Dean Keates says he is hopeful of building a team that Dragons fans can get excited about next season.

Former skipper Keates moved into the dugout in October after re-joining the club from following boss ' exit.

He has guided the Dragons away from trouble and into mid-table safety and with just one game left of the season – Saturday's trip to – attentions have started to turn to next term.

Despite not having one of the biggest budgets in the league, Keates recently claimed the club could still compete for players in the summer.

His resources have been boosted by the ‘Build the Budget' fund which has already added £40,000 to Keates' kitty.

And the boss is confident he can put together a squad that will get the Racecourse faithful off their seats as they look to push up the .

“All being well we can get the people that we want and build something and give the fans something to be excited about,” Keates said.

“We want people coming in who are going to be honest, play with some passion that the fans deserve and have the right desire and work rate.

“We came in and the club weren't in a great position. There's been a lot of changes off the field within the squad and with the infrastructure and the club's in a lot better place.”
