CAMBRIDGE CITY'S new stadium has been thrown into doubt after a judicial review was launched against the decision to approve it.
The Lilywhites moved out of their Milton Road home in 2013 and are playing their games at St Ives Town this season.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government granted the club planning permission for a new 3,000 capacity ground to the north of Sawston last October.
However, 12 months on, the club have been hit with the news that the permission is currently subject to a judicial review which has been made by a third party against South Cambridgeshire District Council.
Development has already started on the new site with levelling works and City hoped they would be able to move in for the start of the 2016-17 season.
City chairman Kevin Satchell said: “News of a judicial review of the planning application is clearly a setback but the club fully understands that issues such as this can occur.
“We will wait for the review hearing and hopefully be in a stronger position to move forward once that has been concluded.”
