Darren Edwards becomes Yate Town’s new interim boss after Craig Laird resignation

DARREN EDWARDS has been put in charge of until the end of the season after Craig Laird's resignation on Tuesday.

The former boss stood down alongside assistant Rob Boyd with the Bluebells sitting 11th in the League Southern Division One South & West.

Laird joined Yate in the summer to replace Rob Cousins and led the club to three wins and two draws in their final five league games.

They just missed out on the play-offs and hopes of a top five finish this season have dwindled with Yate 19 points adrift ahead of Saturday's trip to .

Striker Edwards, formerly of , , and , has been appointed as interim player-manager until the end of the season.

A club statement read: “Craig Laird and Rob Boyd both resigned from their positions this (Tuesday) morning.

“The board of directors would like to thank both Craig and Rob for all their efforts and commitment during their time at the club and wish them every success for the future.

“Yate Town Club wish to advise that Darren Edwards has been appointed interim player-manager until the end of the season. The club would like to wish Darren every success in his new role.”
