He said: “I am delighted to be given the chance to manage Cambridge City. It's a new beginning for the club and it will be a fresh start for everyone.

“It is a challenge, but one I am very much looking forward to and can't wait to get started on the training ground this (Tuesday) evening.

“It won't be easy to get a settled side to start off with but I know what I want and in the next few days I will be contacting players so we can have a look at them on Saturday.

“There is no need to panic as I am very confident in the coming weeks that we will assemble a decent side as the aim has to be to see the team improve on last year.

“This is a fresh start for everyone and although it may well be a long road ahead we need to be patient and also pull together.

“With the new stadium on the horizon it is exciting times for the club and it will be great to see some of the fans that the club has lost in recent years come back and give their support to the team.”

Chairman Kevin Satchell added: “We are delighted to welcome Dan to the club as our new manager. He is keen, determined, and eager to make his mark.

“He has fantastic knowledge and experience of the game. He has obtained several coaching badges in recent times and together with the player coach experience he has gained at both Lowestoft and at Histon we feel that the time is right for him to be given an opportunity.”
