Worsbrough Bridge Athletic secure move back to their Park Road home

THE future of has been secured after the rubber-stamped the return of the club to their former ground.

The Briggers, who play in the NCEL Division One, left their Park Road home in October because of a floodlight failure and their long-term future was thrown into doubt.

A short spell at Grimethorpe Sports Ground followed before the club agreed a groundshare with NCEL Premier outfit .

Despite that deal being put in place, the club and the Worsbrough Sports Development Association trustees were continually working hard to try and secure a return home to Park Road, a ground they have played at for 92 years.

Repair work has been done to the floodlights and following an inspection by the NCEL's ground grading secretary Ian Cox and secretary Brian Gould, the league have approved the move.

Worsbrough's home games yesterday against and on Tuesday against Shirbrook Town will be hosted at Maltby Main while the relevant paperwork is being completed.

A statement from the club read: “Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC would like to thank all the parties involved from the community, the club and the trustees of the WSDA who have all worked together to take football back to Park Road and we look forward to a long term partnership over the coming years that will yet again provide stability to the football club within the Worsbrough community.”

A spokesperson from the WSDA added: “WSDA are very happy to see Worsbrough Bridge Athletic FC back at our Park Road site. We have some fantastic facilities here and it is good to see football at the very high level returning.”
