ILKESTON Town began the season by coming from behind to beat Marske United on an eventful afternoon at Mount Pleasant.
The early stages were end-to-end with the first real chance coming for the hosts in the 11th minute when Doncaster loanee Tavonga Kuleya’s shot was blocked and Jason Kennedy’s rebound was volleyed wide. Marske finally went ahead four minutes before half-time when Eddie Church was brought down in the box by keeper Mathew Yates and Nathan Thomas stepped up to tuck away the penalty.
