WINGATE & Finchley moved up to third in the table as they ground out a 2-0 win away at Canvey Island.
A first half of few clear-cut chances saw Canvey control the possession but come up against a stubborn Wingate defence.
In the 15th minute, the half’s best chance fell to the Gulls, with a ball into the box causing a scramble that neither Bradley Sach nor Sam Higgins could capitalise on.
