Magnificent Mani Dieseruvwe put the Shots to the sword with two goals to bring Dale back on the title track and end Aldershot Town’s superb winning run.
This was a composed, efficient performance which didn’t require Rochdale to move out of second gear.
It was perhaps typified by Dieseruvwe’s second strike, which ultimately killed the game off.
“It was a fantastic result against a team in amazing form,” praised Dale boss Jim McNulty, who saw his team put Tuesday’s “emotional setback” at Halifax firmly behind them.
