Harrogate Town seal double swoop for Josh Hmami and Brad Dolaghan

Harrogate Town have continued their summer rebuild by signing last season’s National League South top scorer Brad Dolaghan and FC Halifax Town midfielder Josh Hmami.

The Sulphurites confirmed the arrivals on consecutive days, with 21-year-old striker Dolaghan joining on a three-year deal from Worthing after firing 23 league goals to help the Rebels win promotion.

Hmami, meanwhile, arrives after registering 19 goal contributions for the Shaymen in the National League last season.

Both players have joined for undisclosed fees, with Dolaghan becoming Harrogate’s 11th signing ahead of the new season.

Young and exciting

The Woodside Road academy graduate said upon his arrival: “I’m delighted to be here and really excited to get going, the project is a really exciting one and one I want to be a part of.

“To get Worthing up was the goal and we did that so I’m really proud of that and looking to bring that momentum into this year.”

Head of player recruitment Lloyd Kerry said: “We’re delighted to have him here, he’s a young, exciting centre forward who knows where the back of the net is.”

“He’s a natural finisher, gets in great positions and has great movement, and at 21 he’s only going to get better.”

Goalscoring threat

Hmami, who began his career at Accrington Stanley and has since represented FC United of Manchester, Ramsbottom United, Marine, Southport and King’s Lynn Town, has become the latest high-profile player to leave The Shay following Will Harris and Jay Turner-Cooke

On his arrival, Kerry added: “We wanted someone who is proven at the level, he’s a goalscoring threat, is very mobile and works hard, so overall he ticks lots of boxes for us.”

“He’s an ambitious lad and fits the profile we are looking for in that position, we hope he can bring goals like he did last season.”

“It’s a signing that we think shows our ambition, he likes the way the club is going and the project here and we think he’ll be a big part of it going forward.”

The arrivals of Dolaghan and Hmami take Harrogate’s summer recruitment drive to 11 new signings, following the additions of Bailey Hobson, Will McGowan, Ciaran McGuckin, Lewis Payne, Rohan Vaughan, Rory Watson, Morgan Williams, Archie Baptiste and Tom Lees.
