Chester FC splash club-record fee on striker Akwasi Asante

have made a big statement in the promotion race by forking out an undisclosed club-record transfer fee for striker Akwasi Asante.
The 26-year-old has made his mark at the Blues during a recent loan spell in which he scored five goals in three games and has now joined permanently on an 18-month contract.
The transfer, a new record for the reformed club, was made possible thanks to the financial support of businessman Stuart Murphy, who donated £1million to the club to develop its infrastructure.
Asante impressed during the 2015-16 season with 17 goals in 39 appearances as won the  North title.
He continued his scoring feat following promotion with 11 goals in 22 National League games; before he was signed by League Two Club Grimsby for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old then joined Tamworth on an 18-month deal in February 2018 following his release from the Mariners that same month.
Chester head to FC on Saturday.
