TOMMY WRIGHT reckons his Nuneaton Town side are capable of a play-off push next season after the boss signed a new two-year contract.
The former Corby Town manager replaced Kevin Wilson as Boro boss in November with the club only sitting outside the bottom three on goal difference.
Wright oversaw a quick upturn in fortunes for the Warwickshire outfit and they finished the season in 12th, 20 points above the relegation places.
Nuneaton will head into next season hoping to compete at the right end of the highly competitive National League North.
And boss Wright – whose assistant manager Steve Chettle and academy boss Liam O'Neill have also agreed new deals – thinks their form since the turn of the year proves they are good enough to fight with the league's best.
“I was extremely proud to get the job in the first place and now I am delighted to have signed this new deal,” he told the club's website.
“We've worked hard since November to lay down the foundations and now we have the opportunity to continue pushing the club forward.
“Stability is a big thing. There has been too much of a turnaround in players, so now I am keen to get the core of the squad signed up on new deals and then recruit well during the summer to add to what we've already got.
“It's a big project, but, as I say, the foundations are in place and by everyone working together we can get to where we want to be.
“Our form since I took over in November suggests that we are a play-off side, so we need to be able to prove that and make a real challenge in 2017-18.
“There is plenty of positivity around the place right now as we look forward to what the future holds in store for us.”
