AVELEY secured their place in the Isthmian League play-offs with victory at Clarence Park.
The visitors started well and Jesse Nwabueze had a low strike saved by Sam Donkin after bursting clear down the right inside the first 15 minutes.
Shortly after, a foul on Jasper Mather saw St Albans awarded a free-kick. Midfielder Alex Dyer stepped up and sent the resulting set-piece inches over the bar.
