Eastleigh’s head groundsman George Sheath has earned plaudits worldwide – after going viral with his unique pitch design.
George upped his game for the Hampshire derby with Aldershot Town on Monday by creating a striped pattern on Eastleigh’s Silverlake Stadium pitch while also depicting the club’s Spitfire logo in the centre circle.
Shared on social media, the striking pitch attracted admirers from all over the globe, prompting the club to hail the work of their talented mower.
In fact it was so good, it led to suggestions that the impressive aerial shots, as captured by club photographer Graham Scambler, may have been AI generated.
Proud club chiefs said: “No AI here, just a groundsman who knows exactly what he’s doing.
“Creating a pattern like this takes time, precision and plenty of pride – and George absolutely nailed it!”
