Step 5 Longlevens AFC have hit the jackpot after its President won £1 million on The National Lottery – and donating it all to them!
Bill Davis, 73, matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the Lotto draw on Wednesday, September 2.
And he has decided to give every penny of the life-changing prize to the Hellenic League Premier Division club which has been at the heart of his life for more than five decades. “This is Longlevens AFC’s win,” Bill said. “I’ve been playing Lotto for decades as a member of the club, not as an individual, and I couldn’t be happier.
“The club has been such a huge part of my life for around half a century, and I can’t think of a better use for this money than helping secure its future for generations to come.”
Bill, who retired from his job in sales within the manufacturing sector around a decade ago, first joined Longlevens AFC in the 1970s and has since played for various teams throughout the club.
He has also served on the club’s committee in a variety of roles and is currently the Gloucestershire club’s President.
“There have been three main priorities in my life – family, football and work,” he added.
“My wife might have a few things to say about the order I’ve put those in but, whilst family will always come first, football comes a close second!”
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor, at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery said, “Congratulations to Longlevens AFC. After 32 years of playing Lotto, Bill Davis’s £1m win is truly remarkable and the sort of story you’d expect to see on the big screen.”
