Solihull Moors have continued their busy summer by completing a triple signing ahead of the new National League campaign, bringing in Jevon Mills, Rio Shipston and Nathaniel Ford.

Centre-back Mills makes his return to Damson Park following his loan spell from Hull City in 2023 and after his contract expired with FC Halifax Town this summer.

He made 31 appearances across all competitions last season in his first taste of regular first-team experience since various loan spells elsewhere at Falkirk, Gateshead and Bohemians.

The Irish defender was the first of three signings announced by the Moors on Tuesday.

Exceptional potential

Speaking after completing the move, manager Chris Millington said: “Jevon has been on our radar since his first spell at Moors.

“At 22 years of age we believe he has all the tools to develop into a fantastic centre back. He has a lot of good attributes and he will flourish in the environment here at Moors.”

Shipston, meanwhile, arrives after progressing through Sheffield Wednesday’s academy, where the technically gifted midfielder was regarded as one of the club’s brightest young prospects.

“Rio is another player with exceptional potential,” Millington said.

“He has the technical ability to help teams control possession and he isn’t afraid to take a risk in breaking lines.

“I am looking forward to working with him and seeing him develop in a Moors shirt.”

Talented

Like Mills, goalkeeper Ford joined the Moors following his departure from Halifax, having previously come through the youth ranks at Rotherham United.

The 21-year-old featured regularly around the Millers’ first-team environment before moving to The Shaymen last summer.

Millington believes Ford, who completed a hat-trick of signings for the club today, has all the attributes to become a future No.1.

“Having worked with Nat previously, I know what a talented young keeper he is,” he said.

“His impeccable attitude, commitment in training and potential to become a number one are just three of the reasons I wanted to bring him to Moors.”

The trio take Solihull’s summer arrivals to nine, following the signings of Joe Sbarra, Junior Tiensia, Matty Carson, Jamie Andrews, Justin Hanks and Ben Wodskou.
